International Admission

Specific Admission Requirements

Non-immigrant international students may apply with Lordland University for the issuance of a Form I-20 as a certificate of eligibility for admission by the Student Exchange and Visitor Program (SEVP). This enables a student to apply for an F-1 Visa at their local U.S. Consulate or Embassy and enter the U.S. In addition to completing the general admission requirements, international students must submit the following:

English Proficiency Requirements

Lordland University does not provide any English language services, such as ESL programs. Students whose native language is not English but wish to enroll in classes conducted in English may be screened during the application process through an interview assessing basic understanding and written English abilities.

The Screening Process

The Director of Administration will screen students whose native language is not English to check their basic understanding and written ability of English. As needed, the Director may refer these students to the International Affairs staff for further screening through an interview.

International students may request an exemption from the language screening requirements if they:

Evaluation of Diploma and Transcripts

All applicants who have completed a degree outside of the United States are required to submit a general/basic credential evaluation report. To complete the evaluation, an applicant must submit the original diploma(s) and transcript(s) along with certified English translations if the original documents are not in English. Failure to complete this requirement will affect your acceptance and may prevent continued study.

SEVIS Transfer

International students currently on an F-1 Visa with a valid Form I-20 issued by another school can apply to transfer and enroll in Lordland University by completing the general admission requirements. Upon obtaining an acceptance letter, they can request a transfer/release of their Form I-20 from their previous school.

Guidelines for International Students

F-1 students are required to register and enroll in a full course of study each quarter. The following outlines Lordland University’s minimum unit requirements per quarter for F-1 students to maintain full-time registration at each level of study.

Under certain circumstances, F-1 students may be authorized to enroll for less than a full course of study while still meeting program regulations for maintaining status. Students must meet one of the criteria, consult with and obtain approval from the Academic Dean, and/or provide medical documentation.

Leave of Absence

Students must notify the Registrar’s Office if they do not intend to register in a given quarter. A Leave of Absence (non-medical) may be applied for after attending three consecutive quarters. If you are completing your program, your final quarter cannot be taken as a vacation. Any student who does not register for the subsequent quarter after the expiration of a Leave of Absence must apply for readmission and is subject to all current academic and administrative policies and procedures, including any new degree requirements in effect at the time of readmission.

Complete Program Before I-20 Expires

An F-1 student has permission to study in the United States up to the expected completion date as indicated on the Form I-20.

I-20 Program Extension

To request an extension, the student must demonstrate that additional time is needed due to compelling academic reasons or a documented medical illness. An F-1 student requiring additional time to complete a program should consult with the administrative office to apply for an extension at least one month before the Form I-20 expires. Students are allowed a maximum one-year extension.

Graduation

Graduate candidates—students who have one to two quarters remaining before graduating—should submit an Application for Graduation to register for the Commencement Ceremony.

International students have a 60-day grace period after graduation to either:

All graduates are considered Lordland Alumni.
